The Affordable Care Act

Did you know that a number of insurance companies are now required to cover preventative services? On March 23, 2010 President Obama signed The Affordable Care Act which provides free screening and shots to individuals.

It’s nice to see that the government is recognizing the importance of prevention in disease, I’ve noticed this in the news a lot lately with the government and the World Health Organization.  The Department of Health and Human Services is also sponsoring Health Literacy Month through a Twitter chat on October 20, 2011 at 2pm.  This chat will allow followers to share their ideas of prevention as well as ideas on how to convey the importance of prevention by using the hashtag #healthlit.
